  • LEMON with NO AID - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

Within the first year, due to or because of the poor quality parts, the interior back seats began rattling/shaking;the back seats a very rarely used. The console rattles and shakes. At 40,000 miles and a year later, I now experience major transmission problems. The automatic transmission doesnt shift smoothly from first to second gear. Within 15 minutes the more exaggerated and predominant the shift, eventually throwing the vehicle out of overdrive on its own.

This vehicle can take a beating. I have driven it on off-road, interstate highway, country roads, and city roads and it has performed quite well.

  • fun and practical - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

This is the 2nd Explorer that Ive owned, the 1st being a 01 XLT 4x4. So far I have put BF Goodrich A/T in 31x10.5x15s on it, installed a hidden hitch front mount and have a Warn 9.5ti winch on a mulit-mount to get me out of places the All Terrain tires wont. Its fun, gets decent fuel mileage and with its small turning radius can get into some pretty tight trails when going off road. Future plans are rear Detroit locker, front air or electric locker and a 4" lift.

  • GOOD LOOKING TRUCK - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Have not had the truck but a month, but like the looks of it. At times I wish I had of brought the 4 door due to the inconvenance of the back seat passanger. Additionally I hate the gas milage with a passion. All in all not a bad truck, and I say truck because thats what it rides like, a truck.

  • Had NO Problems - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Ive only owned a handfull of American cars in my 58 years -- and never expected to purchase a "FORD". I wanted an SUV, liked the styling and price of the Explorer Sport, and from the 30K miles when I purchased it, to the 64K miles I now have on it, its reliability has been exceptional. Living in NJ where the climate can be brutal in the winter, this vehicle has started without exception and run flawlessly. The 4WD is of course absolutely essential for this environment and has performed well.

  • Great first SUV - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

Traded in a 2001 Ford Ranger for this little gem. The ride is great, compared to the Ranger and almost as smooth as the Mazda Tribute. My wife and I have a baby thats six-months old and its fairly easy to get her into the back seat. The passenger seat slides out of the way a good bit, but nothing beats a four-door auto. A good SUV for those who cant afford the four- door Explorer.

great sport and fun drve, only complait is that the interior looks the same every year, they need to upgraded to compete with the hondas and the toyotas. The suspension could be little tighter. overall its a good truck

great truck, keep pulling them out of the woods, rolled over, submerged in lakes, and they keep on running.had to own one after i saw how well this style of truck holds up under major abuse.

  • Love it! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I purchased the Explorer Sport in September due to the need (ha!) for a 4WD vehicle. We have had Explorers in the past and have been very happy. I love this thing! The ride is not as smooth as it could be, but its a truck for cryin out loud! Its powerful, maneuverable, fun to drive. I have no complaints so far.
